赵金琰 Jinyan Zhao, 2000

(Toronto, Canada / London, UK)

Jinyan Zhao (b. 2000) is an artist who explores unsettled moments through poetry, body, space, and emotions. She attempts to construct an emotional experience of viewer participation through the fusion of different mediums such as photography, installation, storytelling and performance. She takes the body as an ontological starting point to explore the intertwined relationship between the individual and their environment, with a particular focus on the subtle and imperceptible interactions between community members, mundane objects, and specific sites.

Currently based in London, Jinyan is currently an MFA candidate at Goldsmiths, University of London. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Visual Studies Studio Practice from the John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape and Design at the University of Toronto. Her work has been exhibited internationally, with shows in Beijing, Toronto, and London.
